Summary:
The Department of Civil Engineering at Zeal Polytechnic, Pune, organized the inauguration ceremony of the Indian Geotechnical Society (IGS) 42nd Student Local Chapter on 22/09/2025. The establishment of this chapter aims to provide a platform for students to explore advancements in geotechnical engineering, foster industry-academic interaction, and encourage participation in research and professional activities.
Objective/ Purpose
The primary objective of the IGS Student Local Chapter Inauguration was to formally establish the chapter at Zeal Polytechnic, Pune, and provide a professional platform for students to explore the field of geotechnical engineering. The event aimed to create awareness about the role and significance of the Indian Geotechnical Society (IGS) in advancing civil engineering practices while encouraging students to actively participate in seminars, workshops, conferences, and technical competitions. It also sought to bridge the gap between academia and industry by connecting students with professionals and experts, thereby enhancing their practical knowledge and exposure.
