Summary:
The Soft Skill & Personality Development Program was organized by the Department of Civil Engineering to help students enhance their communication skills, entrepreneurial mindset, and startup knowledge. The session was delivered by Col. Uday Jagavkar, a seasoned expert in the field of leadership, entrepreneurship, and personal development. The program aimed at equipping students with essential life skills that go beyond technical knowledge, preparing them for success in both their professional and personal lives.

During the program, Col. Jagavkar focused on two major topics:

1. Communication Skills

  1. The importance of effective communication in academic, professional, and personal settings.
  2. Key elements of communication, including verbal, non-verbal, and written skills.
  3. Techniques for improving clarity, confidence, and engagement during interactions.
  4. Practical examples and exercises for students to apply and improve their communication in real-world scenarios.

2. Entrepreneurship Development & Startups:-

  1. Insights into the startup ecosystem, and the steps required to start and run a successful business.
  2. Emphasizing the role of innovation, problem-solving, and risk-taking in entrepreneurship.
  3. The challenges and rewards of being an entrepreneur, including financial management, marketing, and customer relationship building.
  4. Encouraging students to think creatively and develop entrepreneurial skills to build their own startups

Objective/Purpose:
The primary objectives of the program were:

Enhance Communication Skills:

  1. To help students build effective verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
  2. To improve students’ ability to articulate their thoughts clearly and with confidence in different settings.

Promote Entrepreneurial Thinking:

  1. To expose students to the fundamentals of entrepreneurship and inspire them to think creatively.
  2. To build an understanding of the process of developing a startup, including market research, product development, and funding.

Develop Personal and Professional Growth:

  1. To provide students with the tools and strategies for personal development, leadership, and team-building.
  2. To equip students with skills that will help them thrive in their professional careers, both in engineering and other fields.

Increase Awareness of Startups:

  1. To provide a comprehensive understanding of what it takes to succeed in the startup world, with a focus on the practical aspects of launching and managing a business.
