Celebration of Teachers’ Day Organized by Department of Civil Engineering

Summary:
Teachers’ Day is celebrated every year on 5th September to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan—a great teacher, philosopher, and the second President of India. The Department of Civil Engineering, Zeal Polytechnic, Pune celebrated this special day with enthusiasm to express gratitude and respect toward all teaching and non-teaching staff members who contribute tirelessly to shaping students’ futures. The event was judged by Mr. Viraj Patil, a renowned theatre artist recognized for his achievements in various state-level and national-level competitions. He is also well-known across the Pune region for conducting impactful communication-skill enhancement programs,

The program began with a warm welcome and floral tribute to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. A Speech Competition was organized for Civil Engineering students, allowing them to express their thoughts on “The Role of Teachers in Nation Building.” Each participant delivered an inspiring speech highlighting the value of education and the noble role of teachers in society. After an engaging round of performances, the winners were declared as follows:

1st Prize: Akanksha Bothara, 2nd Prize: Aditya Rathod, 3rd Prize: Swati Kamble

The event concluded with motivational words by Prof. Prashant Jadhav (HOD, CE), appreciating students’ enthusiasm and teachers’ dedication.

Objective/ Purpose:

  1. Promote Respect for Teachers: The celebration reinforced the importance of teachers as nation builders and inspired students to value the guidance and dedication of their mentors. Encourage Voluntary Blood Donation:
  2. Encourage Student Expression: Through the Speech Competition, students got an opportunity to express their gratitude, creativity, and public speaking skills, fostering confidence and communication abilities.
  3. Strengthen Teacher–Student Bond: The interactive celebration helped deepen mutual respect and understanding between teachers and students, creating a positive academic environment.
  4. Recognize Talent and Effort: The recognition of winners — 1st Prize: Akanksha Bothara, 2nd Prize: Aditya Rathod, 3rd Prize: Swati Kamble — encouraged healthy competition and appreciation for sincere effort.

Outcomes:

  1. The event successfully fostered a sense of respect and gratitude among students toward their teachers.
  2. Students showcased excellent communication skills and creativity through their speeches.
  3. The celebration strengthened the teacher-student bond and enhanced departmental unity.
